Applying a Transdermal Patch

7450 STUDENTS ENROLLED

Transdermal patches are self-adhesive patches that administer medication via the blood vessels in the skin. Not all medications can be administered using this route; the molecules that make up the medication in the patch must be smaller than the skin molecules they eventually pass through.

The main advantage transdermal patches have over other routes of medication delivery is in their ability to ‘slow-release’ medication over time, providing automatic and continuous medication to a client.
